This is same current system that is beloved by President Bush and was beloved President Nixon (and I don't even need to make a weak pun referencing their distaste for helping the helpless, because their names are synonymous with this already). If you plan to call yourself a follower of Jesus... then maybe you should stop making hateful comments about helping others (much less, on the website of your alma mater's school paper). It reeks of "man holding onto the past with nothing better to do" disease. Maybe you should write to your Congressperson instead... I hear the AARP has a pretty strong hold on Capital Hill and maybe your old ideas will be appreciated there. Students should not be trying to drown each other, while their peers cheer them on from the stands. That is like the Roman Gladiator Games. If you don't remember, the Romans killed Jesus.
