The Optimist is a twice-a-week student newspaper and online publication that is part of Abilene Christian University's Journalism and Mass Communication Department.
The JMC Department is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
ACU is the only university affiliated with the Churches of Christ to earn this credential, one of only seven in Texas, one of only five private universities nationwide and the only program among member schools of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities.
